# Where does your organization really stand on AI?

How far has your organization really come with AI? Without measurement, the answer stays a feeling.

"We're already pretty far along" and "everyone here uses AI tools" may sound like valid answers, but they aren't, because simply using AI says nothing about the maturity level of its adoption. An organization can work with AI every day and still be at the very bottom of the maturity scale if none of it is structured, verifiable, or repeatable. We've already described why simple introductions so often fail.

## Maturity level instead of gut feeling

To make the assessment objective, we built the AI Adoption Maturity Assessment. It has eight questions along the eight dimensions of the AI Adoption Maturity Model from Carnegie Mellon SEI and Accenture. Your maturity level is calculated live in two minutes.

The dimensions run from Organizational Strategy and Workforce & Culture through Workflow Re-Engineering, Risk & Governance, Data and Engineering to Operations and Technology Ecosystem. No dimension can be ticked off with a tool subscription. It's not about whether you use AI, but how AI holds up under real-world load. Not about whether you have data, but how cleanly and securely it is made available. And not about whether someone trains people on AI, but how governance is set up, in other words who takes responsibility if an AI agent makes the wrong decision. AI simplifies your processes and software coding, but the engineering of the overall solution becomes more challenging.

The result is one of five levels, from Exploratory AI to Future Ready AI, along with the dimensions where the gaps are largest. Not a school grade, but a roadmap that shows your next step.

## Who this is for

It's for CEOs, C-suite executives and engineering leads, in short for everyone who is accountable for AI in their organization and wants to know: is our AI adoption already a system, or "just" a collection of one-off cases?

The difference doesn't become apparent with the first successful pilot project, but later on. When no one knows anymore exactly what was decided, when and why, or who is accountable for the outcome of an AI agent. When the data everything is based on has flaws and verification has been neglected. Or when only one person understands how the entire "AI" system works. The assessment reveals these blind spots before they become problems. Why so many organizations hesitate here is described in Stagnation doesn’t come from doubt, but from responsibility.

## When does a platform pay off?

The model provides the honest answer: starting at level 2, Implemented AI. Here, individual AI solutions are already in production, often in specific areas and with initial risk management practices, but still without an organization-wide strategy and governance. A platform that doesn't leave governance, traceability and quality to chance closes this gap.

### When AI builds software

The beacon platform was built for all projects in which AI agents build software. From our perspective, business-specific, custom-made software will increase dramatically in your company. In the beacon platform, AI governance isn't confined to a policy document but takes effect at runtime: two human control points frame the work, after the spec and before the merge. Every change leaves an audit trail, not one that's reconstructed after the fact. And quality is enforced within the system, rather than verified during review. I don't trust any AI agent shows how this works in practice.

### When AI works with your data

AI is only as good as the data it stands on. The beacon platform is superbly suited to collecting, aggregating, structuring and curating your company data. Your data is organized, conflict-free and released with its source before an agent works with it. This curated layer ultimately determines whether real value can be derived from unstructured data.

### When AI takes over your processes

Data alone doesn't get anything done. That's why we apply the same principle to your business processes. We call them AI workflows: skills, SOPs and workflows that an agent works through step by step, following the same correct steps every time and always traceable. This works for long-running processes, too: workflows with persisted steps run for as long as the process takes and can be resumed after any interruption. Instead of a single agent, an entire fleet works in parallel. Humans direct it and make decisions in the moments that matter.

## From result to next step

Is your result at Exploratory AI, level 1? Then the next step is a smaller one: first a documented practice and initial guardrails, then a platform. Our blog explains how to make a successful start.

If your result is at level 2 or higher, the assessment shows where you stand. Whether and where a platform can help is best clarified together, in a guided evaluation. It isn't a sales pitch but a scoping of your environment: just provide a few details about your company and your deployment, and we'll work together to see where you stand. Questions about data residency, deployment or compliance are answered in advance by the security deep-dive.

The assessment itself doesn't sell anything. In just two minutes you'll see where your organization stands. If you'd like, you can request the detailed report by email afterward and receive a one-time response from us, not a newsletter. Even if you don't, you'll still have a more honest answer than any gut feeling can give you.

Where does your organization really stand? The answer takes two minutes, not two quarters.

Hold up the mirror to yourself and complete the AI Adoption Maturity Assessment.
